About Brenda

Brenda L. Villa is a bilingual journalist at KNBC in Los Angeles, working at the assignment desk.

Prior to her work on the assignment desk, Brenda worked with the NBCLA Investigative Team. During her time with the I-Team, Brenda worked on a variety of consumer stories including holiday grocery shopping tips, serial contractor scams, and travel insurance.

Brenda graduated from California State University, Fullerton where she earned a bachelor’s degree in communications, emphasis on broadcast journalism and received a certificate in Spanish Media.

As an undergrad, Brenda was one of three students to pitch, write and shoot about a social justice issue, where her story on violence against transgender immigrants was featured on Univision. She was also part of the school’s English and Spanish newscasts where she was able to report on stories happening on campus and in Orange County.

Brenda has a strong passion for story-telling, connecting with underrepresented communities, and providing a platform so they can share their story.

She is using her time at KNBC to continue to grow as a journalist, working hard behind the scenes to be covering breaking, feature, and trending news stories.
